I compare the troubles which we have to undergo in the course of the year to a great bundle of sticks, far too
large for us to lift. But God does not require us to carry the whole at once. He mercifully unties the bundle, and
gives us first one stick, which we are to carry today, and then another, which we are to carry tomorrow, and so on. This
we might easily manage, if we would only take the burden appointed for us each day; but we choose to increase our
troubles by carrying yesterday's stick over again today, and adding tomorrow's burden to our load, before we are
required to bear it. Jennifer's Comments: God wants us to have enough light to take the NEXT STEP…. God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path…. We used to measure our light in 'foot candle' power… Our lives need to be a faith walk…. We need to Trust God for every step we take, every breath we take, and just get in the habit of not looking at ALL OF THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS AT ONCE…. as it will totally overwhelm us, and bring us worry and stress that we have no control to make a difference. We need to just look at what God's put directly before us, and DO THE NEXT THING! That's all He requires… is to do just what He's put before US… Don't try and take on the entire world's problems…. We'll never solve them. We need only to be faithful to look to HIM, to faithfully tackle what duties God has given US to discharge. This will bring us peace, and a sense of accomplishment, which will in turn, give us Joy. "Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779, with words written by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (1725–1807).
